Smart Weigh Belt Feeders SWB

The Smart Weigh Belt Feeder SWB is used for continuous controlled gravimetric feeding of bulk materials. The most typical application is for feeding/weighing into a continuous process. By utilizing different control software, the SWB can also be used to feed material into a batch system.

Due to their operating principle weigh belt feeders are often a good choice when feeding relatively free-flowing materials not requiring containment. The SWB offers gentle material handling, an important benefit compared to other feeding devices, such as the screw feeder, when handling certain materials:

• Flakes (e.g. corn flakes, bran flakes, and wheat flakes)
• Lumpy bulk solids (e.g. vegetables and fruits)
• Shear sensitive materials (e.g. corn flakes, frozen vegetables and frozen fruit)
• Highly abrasive bulk solids (owing to a low friction coefficient applied to the materials)
• Low melting bulk solids (e.g. fat flakes)

DESIGN FEATURES
 

Weigh belt feeders operate by continuously weighing a moving bed of material on its short conveyor, and controlling belt speed to result in the desired flow rate at discharge. Therefore, weigh belt feeders can achieve high rates while remaining compact.

The available models are divided into two rate categories:

• Mid-rate: SWB-300 and SWB-600
  The SWB-300 and SWB-600 are available with housing (model -N) or as open frame models (model -O)
• Hi-rate: SWB-650, SWB-800, SWB-1000

Open frame models are typically used in food applications. They are made of stainless steel and especially easy to clean.
