Dense phase systems convey materials at slower velocities than traditional dilute phase pneumatic systems. Unlike dilute phase conveying, in which all the material is suspended in a high speed gas stream, dense phase conveying moves material in a slower but more concentrated manner.
While both dilute and dense phase conveying have their places in material handling, it is important to know when to use each. Dilute phase conveying's biggest advantage is its flexibility; moving a receiver's location or changing the number of receivers is possible with dilute phase. Dense phase conveying is beneficial when you have a material that requires more gentle handling, such as friable granulation.
